 Conservative Hispanic, Oh My!

We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, must get rid of this bunch of nuts who are running our country.

Most of the obvious statements can be made about the War in Iraq(I'm for) or our impending anihilation of Iran(Also for) to get people to share your feelings. I am all for intelligent debate BUT...I stress BUUTTTT! I won't listen to "Bush is a Moron" type rhetoeric.

I am a conservative and don't agree with all that our President says, but to put all the blame for what's happening today in America on him is ludicrous. So if you want to take the easy way out, visit the many Liberal sites out there and sing Koom-by-ya over there.

My issue and starting point for this blog is Immigration. Now before you say "Oh Brother, another European white bread republican moaning about Mexicans", I would like you to know "Yo Soy Mexicano!" For those European white bread republicans, henceforth known as "EWBR's", out there that translates to mean "I am Mexican".

Actually to put it in proper terms, my mom's family, after coming over to this side of the world looking for adventure with guys like Cortez and De Gama, made there way up to what is now the Southwest corner of the U.S. to settle in places that eventually became Texas and California. So maybe I'm more old school Hispanic than actually new world. With all the raping and inter-breeding happening back then there may be a little Aztec or Mayan floating around in my DNA.

The misconception as to who I am is my anglo surname. My dad being an EWBR from New England, of all places, came down from the Northeast to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Upon being exposed to the awesomely beautiful hispanic women of the Southwest, he chose to take one as his bride against the wishes of his parents, who felt that my father was marrying beneath him.

Actually my Dad's ancestry has a lot of prominent Americans sprinkled throughout but we typically come from fisherman and whaler stock. In fact I can say that my dad's family probably represents through marriage and otherwise, the entire continent of Europe. Long days at sea were not conducive to a lot of bigotry as you can imagine.

Let's get back to immigration. I am opposed to the Senate Immigration Bill and here is why. Why should a person who has come here illegally be afforded Super-citizenry status? Super-citizenry status you ask? Absolutly correct, Super-citizenry status. If you fail to pay taxes as an ordinary citizen, the U.S. Government uses it's full power and authority to make you pay, with interest, or you could end up in prison for tax evasion. Super-citizens will only have to pay 2/3s of taxes that they owe. If you as an ordinary citizen obtained a Social Security using false information, you would go to prison. Super-citizens will be allowed to correct this oversight in understanding our legal system and continue to get benefits.

Immigrants who have waited years to become citizens and who have paid thousands in fees will have to watch from their country of origin while these undocumented guests of the United States wait out their time, up to 11 years supposedly, in the home they purchased with false information while driving to work, of which they gained their employment via false information, in the vehicle they purchased with false information and whom don't pay for services offered by our government. Services which every legal citizen does pay for but doesn't always qualify for.

Our Senators and our President are rooting for the illegals cause they take jobs Americans don't want. I'll correct that by stating that it's the extremely low wages we don't want not the jobs. I would love to be a carpenter or house framer or even a sheetrock installer if it payed a decent wage. What's happening is ruthless employers are offering minimal salaries for back breaking work. That's why you'll hear the argument from these same ruthless business owners that we need these illegals to take these jobs.

John McCain made the challenge that if Lettuce farmers in Arizona were paying fifty dollars an hour, no American would take the job. My response, let me know where and when and I'll be there. I have a car with insurance and at fifty bucks an hour, hell I'll pay for my own medical care! Senator McCain's true motive is more likely that if he is seen as a friend to the illegals he has a voting block in the near future who will remember him for his "courage" in fighting for their rights. What about our rights Senator? I vote also. And I don't intend to vote for any republican or democrat who endorses this nonsense.

Now believe it or don't, most Americans of Hispanic decent are on my side. Go down to El Paso, Texas and ask factory workers who do their best to earn an honest living how they feel and you'll find that even if an ancestor came here illegally they also oppose this "Amnesty" bill. If you also bring Senator McCain's proposal about picking lettuce to their attention you will find a more than willing group of new lettuce pickers headed for the farms of Arizona.

Well that's it for my first blog. Hope you like it. Hope it makes you think. And always remember voting is a right not a privilage. People died for this right and you don't have to.
